I just need to vent: So I have HS & Eczema, and I have to change the soap I use to shower in every couple of months or I get red painful patches on my body. I tried all sorts of brands but so far have switched to using mostly all baby products (mostly hypoallergenic dove & Aveeno). That hasn’t caused many issues so far. So yay!! I also have to change my deodorant often or else my flare ups get more painful. And there is no such thing as deodorant for babies (at least I don’t think so) and the natural ones don’t work (at all). So I feel like it is just non-stop pain sometimes.

I've really enjoyed lume's acidic soap. Turns out keeping your skin at an acidic pH is supposed to be super healthy for it so I look for soaps that are as acidic as i can get. It also does wonders for your groin area.

As for deodorant, I have recently been having good results with "Life Doesn't Stink" deodorants. You can also make your own with baking soda, coconut oil, and essential oils.

@spookyspoonie okay thank you !
Try washing with hibiclens!!!!!! Someone on here told me about it about 6 months ago and I have no idea how i ever lived without it. It is surgical soap- and completely gets rid of my HS body odor. Keeps my skin healthier and keeps the flares from getting infected. I also react to most soaps and deodorants, this is the best option I have ever found. I get it from Amazon. The bottle says not to use it in the groin, but it IS safe as long as you dilute it and you don't use it on mucus membranes (aka external use only).
@spookyspoonie you can use it in the shower ? I thought it was for after shower

@Chrissyposi the bottle says not to use it in the groin area. My doctors all agree that it is safe in the groin as long as it is diluted and it stays on the "outside" skin & not on mucus membranes. Obviously best to check with your own doctors but I thought I'd throw it out there.
@Chrissyposi I use it as body wash in the shower once a day. I like to scrub my pits and then whatever active sores i have. At this point, I rarely use other soap on my body since it works so well.
As far as deodorant goes, most have aluminum in them, which sits on the skin and finds its way into your pores. Lume is an aluminum-free deodorant you could try. Personally, I use rubbing alcohol and lime juice (both natural odor eaters). I can't have any chemicals sitting on my skin, so that's what I've found that works for me. Good luck!
@GoldTransMan thank you !

My HS has ruined so many of my sweat glands that I don’t have to wear deodorant except on particularly hot days. So I mean I’m sure you’ve tried this but if you have a good body wash you like (I love axe) then maybe try using deodorant less? I basically can’t sweat out of my arm pits though so my situation may not be applicable.
@Soskae I have the opposite. My glands go into overdrive almost and I have talked to doctors about possibly getting some removed. If I don’t wear deodorant, my armpits will be soaked and smelly. Which makes me super self-conscious about the way that I smell. And I would try axe but I feel like it would be harsh on my skin.
@Chrissyposi I’m sorry that makes sense though. Axe so far has been really good on my skin and the scent sticks around longer than other body washes but your skin may be more sensitive than mine. Best of luck!!!
Try lume deodorant
@BlackZombie I use that one. The unscented one and the main reason I stopped using it or rather not use it so much is because its not strong enough to last all day. At least for me.
