Still kinda new to the fibro world. How do you explain what it feels like. I'm in a flare right now and it feels like body aches from flu but also bruises on the inside. Does that make sense to anyone?

Punching bag....It feels like you're the bag. You know? The brand new heavy punching bag. The new one they put up new years morning. Then, the furry of a thousand and one resolutions come down on you for days, weeks and months on end. Torn, bruised, busted, battered, bested, beaten and just worn out. That's how i can describe fibro today

Mine acts up with the weather change, so every season brings it's own little version of hell lol
Mine gets worse according to barometric pressure .. low pressure kills me
@Bigdaddyc9 mine's like this with the pressure too but I'd describe it as if someone has come by and beaten me in all my joints with a baseball bat. From the smallest in my fingers and toes all the way up to the largest in my hips and knees and everywhere between. And it's so much worse in the mornings.

I basically describe it the way you have, it's like flue ache and bruises from the inside (and feels like bruises on the outside, too, but there's no actual bruise). The biggest hurdle I've found is that most people understand acute illnesses but can't empathize with chronic illnesses. They're used to it going away quickly, so they downplay chronic illness because they can't imagine that just being life.
@Jasnah not just that, but fibro is an invisible illness so others can't see what we are feeling so they have absolutely no clue, which is why we always hear "but you don't look sick"
Makes complete sense. I read years ago an explanation of FMS that I still use. "The pain of FMS is like a stereo with the volume knob all the way up & someone broke the knob off."
@TabbysMom that's a great explanation
I get a combination of all of these. I am especially prone to flares when I overdo or when I injure myself.
I get that, but I also get: sharp pains feeling of being in a vice tingling/buzzing

I get a lot of burning nerve pain too sometimes
@MNVikingfan what's weird is that those, for me, co.e and go in random small spots. Sometimes just a finger, then on my leg somewhere, then my shoulder, then somewhere else. And they can last minutes or hours. All or none. It's so so unpredictable
@Pescalito same for me! Always nice to know I’m not going crazy
Definitely! I liken it to doing the hardest workout and the aches that go with it is what the Fibro aches feel like for me.
@MNVikingfan yes! And then the bruises are bone deep
@Pescalito exactly
