When I get really depressed, it takes over my whole worldview and I feel like an embodiment of my depression and nothing more. I don't talk a lot in this state, but when I do, all I can talk about is negativity. All I can think about is negativity. All I feel and see is negativity. This makes me unpleasant to be around when I'm depressed, especially since I'm a more expressive and vulnerable person. ❗️Does this make me "edgy"? Is it a flaw in my character? Is it something I need to change?

I agree with arnodorian you don't need to be so hard on yourself take from someone who has that same problem it's not worth it

I can relate. When I'm in it everything seems awful and I feel so negative. People around me clearly do find my views about things challenging when I'm feeling like that, but if they know you have depression and you can explain to them that it's a result of the condition (which it is, it's not a flaw of yours which you need to fix!) then it can help them to understand. You're not being unpleasant on purpose, you are expressing how you're feeling. It's important that you recognise your feelings are valid and can express them, even if they don't represent how you feel all the time, or if you wish they were different.

Hey hey hey, quit being so hard on yourself, you don't need to change, being sad doesn't make you "edgy", it makes you human. Especially if it's more than sadness-- if it's a medical depressive episode, no one's expecting you to show up radiating brightness, more importantly don't expect that from yourself, it's okay to feel and express negativity from time to time. I would suggest trying to switch to a more positive mindset but that's a process and easier said than done, until then it's okay to feel whatever you feel, all your emotions are valid
