The Misunderstanding of Mental Health

people don't understand. They think I can just cheer up. anyone else experience this?

I totally can relate to this. It's literally telling a depressed person to stop being depressed, lol. Like you can't just magically undo it. Sadly, in today's eyes, it seems as though we should always be happy but that shouldn't be the case. We experience emotions and certain things for a reason. Unfortunately, toxic positivity is in instead of healthy ways to cope. I am sorry that you had to go through this. You are not alone on this journey. 💗

Toxic positivity is a real thing, remember to take breaks from people that have that mindset, it isnt necessarily bad just misinformed...

dude every single guidance counsoler ive had has been like that. Like no i cant just think of the fuller side of the cup youre minimizing how I feel into general pessimism its not how mental health works.

Everyone around me is constantly smiling at me and asking me if im okay like its so stupid that they dont understand that no you cant cheer me up but what you can do is leave me alone for a bit so i can figure myself out.
