I don't know if this is part of my fibro or crps or even if i can explain but alot of my pain is in my back feels deep down, I used to use a TENS but it doesn't help (for last few years) it feels like my skin is a weighted blanket n if I could down through my skin about an inch or 2 then the pain would be on the surface. My GP never gets it when I say the pain has got deeper over time (10+ years) it's started right on the surface and TENS Really helped. but like I said its like my skin is like a thick weighted blanket and the pains deep that. Like recently ive been getting very very sharp kidney pain and that feels right at the surface! Does this make sense to anyone else?? I'm sorry I'm rubbish at explaining

Yea
I've been having the same kinda pain...I thought maybe it was kidney or sciatica pain. But where my tens used to work on it...it doesn't anymore. And it feels like it's just under the surface of the skin, but the skin there feels really heavy.
