Back Pain with Fibromyalgia

Hi there does anyone else suffer from back pain due to fibro? Not sure but I think it’s my muscles on either side of my spine kinda in the kidney area. My kidneys should be ok maybe it is my fibro? Thanks all

Yes, I have pain everywhere, but especially in the mid back. I was told by a doc that it was an abnormal place to have pain. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have mild scoliosis, endometriosis/scar tissue, and arthritis in my back, and fibro just makes it worse. Like you, mine is right over my kidneys. I sit with a heating pad on my back most of the time just to get a small bit of relief.

I feel my Fibro pain is worse in my lower back but I have had muscle spasms in my mid and upper back. They are all painful to deal with. Some of the worst ones are when muscles behind your lungs spasm and it impacts your breathing. I have had 3 kidney stones and since having the first one I have random weird jolts of pain at random times. I don't believe Fibro directly causes any kidney issues through. I hope you can get the pain more under control! ❤️

OMGGGGG yes! I’m dealing with that currently and it’s so so so bad. I’ve done everything to ease the pain but it’s not working. Had to bust out the cane at work to get around. Nothing is worse than someone asking you why you’re walking with a cane! Ummm….because I need it!

Yes, it can get so bad that I can’t sit up or hold my phone.

I have pain in the same place, sometimes feels shooting or like I'm being stabbed there. Usually much worse when I have my period or stomach/gas issues. I used to be so confused about it because it often feels like its going right through my body like I'm being stabbed all the way through

Yes that is one of my worst pain spots. I use massage and chiropractic care when I can. Heating pad, foam roller, and a hook that I can use to apply pressure to knots and stuff.

I have Endometriosis as well as Fibromyalgia and my lower back is constantly hurting! I typically get a massage done on a monthly basis, and use a heating pad! It only helps so much..

Yea it’s unbearable at times. I’m covered in salon pas patches like 98% of the time just so I can take a deep breath.

Yes!! I was told my Rheumatologist thought I had Ankylosing spondylitis last year. I was fired from my job and lost my insurance. Fast forward to this month. I finally got insurance. I went back to him. Because everything is worse, my back pain has increased and move to more places. Now he says he thinks it's Fibromyalgia. I'm so frustrated and confused. He wants me to try a new medication. I'm losing faith.

I've had this mysterious pain there! I even went to the doctor, thinking I pulled something. I feel better knowing it's another weird FM pain. What a strange thing we have...

@frogmomma - I've had to change meds for different conditions over the years. Don't give up! 💕

We tend to credit all pain to fibro but, I have found other cond that are responsible for all my spine issues.

I get that, I feel like it’s hard too with fibro not only for person with it but people treating it can a lot be “it’s just your fibro”without doing a full work up I wish I could just know for sure I suppose

Yes! I have herniated disc in my cervical spine (diagnosed 11 years before my first Fibro diagnosis), also in my lumbar (diagnosed in 2017). I have mild scoliosis diagnosed in 2019. I think back problems are common with Fibro. I've had 2 Mri on my neck (2004 and 2020) and my lumbar MRI was done in 2017 before my first SI joint ablation. Successful. I had my 2nd in 2020. About time for another. I've heard fibro patients talk about back issues from the beginning. You are in good company.

I think that triggered my back surgeries and back problems.

Mine is worse in my upper/middle back. Between the shoulder blades. It’s the WORST. I have a heated massager, only thing that distracts my mind when it acts up.

I have pain in my shoulders and lower back. I can never tell if this Fibromyalgia or Endo or both🤨
