I freaking hate this. My anxiety gets so bad that it genuinely makes me sick, I call in because I'm, well, sick. It gets better for a bit so I feel guilty and like shit which then triggers my anxiety, causes me to spiral and makes me sick again.

Never feel like you’re on your own with this type of behavior. I’ve been exactly where you are, calling out of work because of my anxiety but making up another excuse so my job doesn’t have any reason to retire me due to a mental illness. It is 100% normal to need to take days off because your anxiety is so bad it makes you genuinely feel sick. We need to normalize mental illnesses and not have employers view it as an “excuse.” It’s not an excuse, it’s real life and a real issue and no one should be made to feel belittled because of it.

i’ve done the same thing before. Don’t beat yourself up too much over it; anxiety is real and valid. And Lanny is right, it needs to be normalized more. Taking mental health days is important to prevent burnout-take care of yourself!

@Lanny Thank you so, so much. I really needed to hear that
@ISFP I’m genuinely so glad I could help. If you ever need to talk/vent to someone, you can absolutely turn to me. Odds are I’ve most likely been through everything there is to go through (unfortunately)
