Potential TW: Health Concern OCD So I've been dealing with health concern OCD for quite some time now. A couple months ago I was convinced I was having seizures, now my brain is trying to tell me that I'm pregnant. I keep telling myself to wait until I reachmy period to see what happens but I can't stop, well, obsessing. I don't want to take a test because I know that I'll just fall into a hole of taking test after test after test because I won't believe the results. Is waiting a good idea and should I go through with it?

I think ERP is the best method. Maybe I am pregnant, maybe not, but either way is ok. Bc ocd is the illness of doubt, so we need to always feed it with maybes, and not show it certainty. Bc then there comes a time that we aren't certain and can shut down. But if it's always a maybe then we are on top of the game

One way I snap out of these episodes is by using gentle reassurance with myself. I treat my obsessive thoughts like they’re an anxious friend. I go through the process explaining to my brain that we’re okay and provide proof to these statements. Example being, “We aren’t having a heart attack. We’ve already had several tests done and they all came back perfect. We’re aware that it’s just a muscle injury. We can tell it’s a muscle injury because it’s only painful when you engage it. We’re okay.”
