I'm taking it now and it has helped me so so very much. My lows feel manageable instead of devastating and empty. And my highs are more even. But I will say my physician scared me when they first put me on it. Be sure to research the rash and know what to look for.

It worked well for me the first time I took it. I was on it for several years without issue. I took it with Welbutrin. My car blew up and I ended up missing an appointment and no way to get to another for almost a year. When I tried to take it this time we (my dr and I) increased the dose from 100mg to 200mg and about 2 weeks later I broke out in a terrible rash. Even after I stopped taking it it took another 2 weeks for all my symptoms to subside. I'm taking Latuda now. I actually like it much better. It seems to help me like 1000 times better. I do still take Welbutrin.

Lamictal is amazing for me. Been on for 8 yrs. That at sertraline have been the perfect combo. Don't get me wrong once in awhile I'm manic or depressed but some days I think that's cuz of the other medical issues I have. I have ESRD and am on dialysis. That alone is depressing.

@Morticia013 I'm on the same combination of medications for My Bi polar 2 and it seems to be doing good for me. I too do get manic and depressed once and awhile to due to other health issues too. I don't think any medication is going to work 100% perfect all the time!!

Lamictal didn’t really work for me it just made me gain weight and made me more depressed? However I think sertraline has worked the best for me as well as quetiapine for a mood stabilizer

I really was not a fan of lamictal. My mood didn’t fluctuate much but i was still pretty depressed fairly often, although it wasn’t nearly as severe. Had a lot of memory issues, especially with word recall. The best way to describe it is that lamictal made me feel like a had a lobotomy. I’m on to topamax now and I love it. Side effects are a little crazy at first but go away after a few weeks and were worth it for me. I feel normal for the first time in years and I think I’m finally going to be able to get my life back on track :) Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions

I was on Seroquel for 2 years and had a lot of health complications due to it, even though I was on the lowest dose. I felt like a zombie and I was always so tired. I'm on low dose Zyprexa now and it's not only helped with my highs and lows, it's helped me with social anxiety as well! My night terrors stopped once I went off Seroquel as well. My only issue I have with Zyprexa personally, is I've had more auditory hallucinations when I'm stressed than I used to.

Lamictal has been a good choice for me! I’ve been on it for going on 4 years. Little to no side effects. I haven’t noticed any emotional blunting, either. It’s been a very stable medication for me— and I’ve had to try lots of options that were not.

I take Depacote it works really well for me. Just try some of them if you don't like one switch it. Of course, money is always is an issue so you can ask for a liver enzyme test and thay can predict which ones might give you problems.
