I haven't showered in almost a month. I work at a job that requires a hat that covers my hair so I just pretend I'm okay. I don't know why it's so hard for me to get in the shower. I feel gross and helpless to my mind.

Maybe (if your able to) Start getting stuff to pamper yourself. Start with a bath, have a pretty bath bomb, play music. light a candle and let yourself relax. Give yourself incentives, like if you shower 3 times in a week you get yourself some coffee, or something you've been wanting to buy. Little things like that.

That’s how I feel I would suggest getting a partner my partner helps me wash my hair shave my body and everything maybe someone to support would help

Give yourself an ample amount of time to shower, lay out a nice towel and use your favorite scent soap. Make it a reward for yourself.

Showering seems like a constant battle. I've gone weeks without showering and had to detangle my hair for hours. It seems like a build-up of 'I don't want to' to 'this is gonna take forever'

My depression is mixed with fibromyalgia which works against each other. Water hitting my body in the shower physically hurts me. So I spray my scalp daily with dry shampoo and my hair with leave in conditioner then brush it out. Right back in a bun it goes. I loath getting in and then having to get out and dry off then get dressed again. Majority of the time I hurt so bad I can't lift my leg high enough to even get dressed. You are not alone. I call them "hobo baths." Sink water, wash cloth and clean ya bits. That's all :)

how i feel about showering is actually my litmus test for my mental health. do you *dread* showering? do you dread the idea of getting all sopping wet? but on the occasion you do find yourself in the shower, you dread getting out? leaving the warm water and being in the cold air? do you maybe live your whole life this way - dreading the future always? its crucial at this point to try to replace dread with *excitement*. if buying a new shampoo, or bath bombs is what it takes for you to get excited to use them, do that. but try to get excited about being clean and getting dressed too. instead of pushing yourself to do something you dont want... remind yourself that you DO want it :)

@limewire I kind of love this idea but I don’t know I have the motivation to make it work. Ima try it anyway tho.

Its understandable you'd struggle to bath. Don't be too hard on yourself. Depression is a very tangible part of life. Is there a way if making it lower effort? Having baby wipes and dry shampoo delivered to your house so you can take a kind of shower? Sitting at the bottom of the shower? I've had a lot of depressed friends who found thst beginning to clean up the space around them and throw things out gave them some mental clarity. Even if it meant opening up to a friend and having them help clean.

It's hard sometimes to find a reason to care for yourself when you lack the care due to depression. Sometimes you just gotta push through your thoughts and make your body do it.

I have a hard time showering too. I'm lucky if I get myself to shower more than once or twice a week.
