Struggling with hygiene and depression

I feel really depressed. My mom came to visit me today and she told me to take a shower because my hair was so greasy she thought it was wet from a shower. Anyone else struggle with hygiene especially during the work week? Like going to work is hard enough.

Yeah I feel that! My fiancee actually told me to take a shower and eat food because I haven't been eating much since the abuse of my parents because they always said I ate too much I'm fat I'm this or that. Let no one tell you want you can do without you wanting to do it for yourself ❤️❤️

I definitely do. There are weeks I literally shower once.. I feel gross but task initiation is so difficult. I hate the effort it takes to brush my hair before a shower and get dressed after the shower & I have a deal with myself that if I shower, I have to put on lotion which def is a lot of effort that I just avoid showering. But showering does feel nice. Depression makes it tiring, if I'm manic I don't even think about it. And I also have OCD so it seems counterintuitive. And I have task initiation and completion issues and ADHD paralysis. It's such a shitty mix. I feel you. I'm trying so hard to at least shower twice a week. Beginning and middle at least.. Haven't succeeded very much. But at least trying. All you can do is try.

It helps to try new products that you're excited about and to always buy new loofas and tooth brushes and stuff. I also find showing before bed helps me sleep way better.

If my husband wasn't so amazing. I would be shower only once a week. I also only brush my teeth like once a week but trying to get back on my routine, again thanks o my hubby for helping and being so supportive. Take a bath if a shower is to much, it might make me you feel happier. Do it when you are ready, just because sociteyvwants people to be one way, yeah that isn't going to happen. Most of us don't fit into what society really is.

Have you ever tried an app? There's apps that will do games and reminders. I used one for a little while but I had trouble keeping up with it.

Absolutely. I stink right now. Ive had friends mothers pull me aside and tell me I was handsome, but I needed to take a shower. Clean myself up. Its so hard some days. I havent worked in over 3 years. Just been taking it a day at a time.

Yeahhhhh i only shower about once a week at BEST when in a depressive swing…. I’ve gotten very good at putting my hair in a bun because of it…. Also deodorant and essential oils…. If you wanna talk to someone I’m here and my inbox is open 💜
