*I narrowed this down to people who have conditions like me.* how do you guys function in normal life? I can’t hold a “traditional” job to save my life, and even if I could, I think my constant doctors appointments would be a turn off to most employers. I do work at a church, but it’s very flexible, as well as teaching piano. I’m also a mom and I feel like it’s impossible for me to be present as a mother. I feel like I’m letting everyone in my life down constantly because of complications from my conditions (pain from PA, depressive episodes, panic attacks, inability to basically function from adhd, lack of confidence due to the weight gain of PCOS and the condition of my skin from psoriasis specifically.) I know most of you have similar conditions, and I’m just wondering how you all cope with it all? If you don’t mind, you’re more than welcome to share what you do and what helps you with various aspects of your life. It just feels like I’m set up for failure—am I the only one feeling like that? It’s hard, y’all.

I just started a work from home job a few months ago, and I’m feeling so much better physically. I can only work part time if I’m doing in person, and even then I can only do specific non-physical jobs that are willing to provide transportation for me. With this remote job, I can handle full time hours and don’t need to find transportation. If you haven’t yet, try applying for social security too. I don’t qualify, but it’s always worth a shot! That would help on the job front. As for feeling better for yourself and your kids, it’s all about management. Keep trying new things when you can. Keep encouraging doctors to look for new studies and info about your conditions too. My primary care saw a study about POTS saying increased sodium intake can resolve symptoms. And it’s my main way of managing the condition now. I only collapsed once this past summer!! Balance comes with time and support. You can do this!!

I know how you feel. I can't hold down a traditional job either because of my obesity and my osteoarthritis in my knees. I have really bad anxiety and was diagnosed with bipolar 2 but the meds help with that. I am currently a dog sitter but currently on break because he's not working at the moment. So I know what its like I haven't had a real job since 2017.

Loooooots of self care and being kind to myself. I can empathize with so much you have written. PCOS was definitely a big kick to my confidence as well. I have come to recognize that I have to treat my body like a friend who is struggling. I would never hate that friend. I would help in any way I could. My inbox is always open ♡
