How do you handle different intensities of alters switching around? For me, in the morning, everyone is very quiet and/or just waking up. Everything is alright, and it's nothing too crazy. In the afternoon, things start to settle in a little more. There are prominent alters here and there, and they switch around just fine. But when the evening or late night rolls around... The whole system goes almost haywire. Alters are switching around so much, and sometimes it's even hard to keep track. It's almost like everyone wants to speak at once, but can't (for clear reasons). How do you handle with that sort of stuff? The only way I've been able to is to just let everyone do their thing, or try to not let everyone get too hyperactive. If you have advice, it'd be so appreciated. -Elias (the eternal self helper)

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)

I'd say identifying what about the night time do you think might make them active? There could be a trigger (positive or negative), unbeknownst to you all (or maybe some of you), that could be making everyone active. Depending on what it is, unearthing the trigger could create more activity and even distress, so if you don't want to dig into that I couldn't blame you. It's not a guaranteed fix, but might be helpful identifying so your system can identify a safety plan of sorts. Definitely figuring out what folks want and negotiating could help too, as Mia mentioned. Could be a mix of both!
I've been struggling with this too. It hasn't been a game-changer, but I've kind of negotiated with some of the Littles on what days they can come out. As in "Molly, we can have you out on Wednesday or Thursday, but I promise you can come out Friday." It isn't perfect but welcoming them out and asking politely for them to return (especially with the help of my partner on sending people back) has kind of helped slow down some of the rapid and intense switches. Again, not THAT much, but even a something is something. I want to keep up on this post though because I have an event coming up where I need to control switching HARDCORE for a week and need advice too.
