Hi all, I went to the ER for a mental health crisis on Monday and was discharged on Tuesday after convincing the staff that I was okay to go home. I’ve now been home for a day and I’m considering going back to the hospital. I’m worried that I made the wrong choice but my mom has been pressuring me to continue going to work because she says she knows me and the structure will make me feel better. I’m definitely glad I left that specific hospital but im considering going to a private inpatient hospital nearby that I’ve been to before. Any advice would be very helpful.

I believe if you've been to a specific hospital and you felt it helped you and was beneficial, I would absolutely suggest going back on a voluntary stay. There's no shame in doing what you feel you need, especially for your mental health. Please don't force yourself to ignore it and go back to work right away if possible. Like another person said, you know yourself best, and if you need to reach out during a mental health crisis, that's a very good idea. Best of luck to you! Please take care and know we care! ❤️

I think, when you are in or near crisis, the repercussions of going to the hospital are almost always less than the repercussions of not going. You should do what makes you feel safe and comfortable and what allows you to heal the way YOU need to, regardless of what others say. You know yourself best.
