With GAD, I experience a huge amount of guilt. Guilt over even the smallest, most trivial things. It's the source of a lot of my stress. How do you handle excess guilt? Do you have any advice for me?

Same! @Animehoney86 I struggled with debilitating guilt and panic attacks. I can only talk from personal experience and I had to go through a whole journey/transformation to shake those intense symptoms. It has come back a little recently (not as bad as before, yet at least, fingers crossed) but for years I went without it and the only way I could stop it (like get rid of it and stay without it for those years) was by cutting myself off from everything in my life and essentially allowing myself to fail at the outside factors and numbing myself to that so I could just remove all the outside pressures that controlled me every day and be selfish to focus on surviving and slowly learning to function without all those pressures so that I could slowly rebuild my life. what made it possible for me was my amazing support from family (and I did put them through it which I wish I hadn’t) but when you feel like you are living every day in survival mode and barely functioning anymore, you have to get yourself out of that situation and help yourself. So like that doesn’t necessarily mean doing what I did, but it means maybe making a big life change like with work hours or job or career or cutting off a certain person or people who are hurting you, and just compiling allll of your resources and support, like all of the people you know personally who are compassionate and all outside services you can find, and just helping yourself, and that is an investment that can really transform you and last for a good while

@Alliyay I just about cried because this is so relatable. Thank you for sharing that! It really helps knowing that it is possible to be free from those intense symptoms, at least for a while.

Use to be that way as a teenager
I try to remind myself that i haven't actually done something wrong, or if i did it is reasonable and happens all the time and is a blip on the radar for others. But i still feel bad so

@Robinle that's exactly the 1 thing I currently do about it 😅
