Sarcoidosis is a type of disease that cause an abnormal tissue called granuloma to form in different organs throughout your body. Sarcoidosis leads to an inflammation, usually in your lungs, skin, or lymph nodes.
If a large number of granulomas accumulate in a certain organ, they may impair its proper functioning.
No one is sure what causes sarcoidosis. It affects men and women of all ages and races.

In some cases, you may not experience any signs or symptoms.

If your doctor suspects you have sarcoidosis, he or she will ask you about your symptoms, and perform a physical exam.
Next, an imaging tests such as a chest X-RAY or CT scan will be needed.
In order to confirm the diagnosis, you will need to do a biopsy in which a small piece of an effected organ will be taken out and examined under the microscope.
