Eosinophilia is a high count of eosinophils, a type of white blood cells, in the blood. There could also be eosinophilia in certain tissues. Eosinophilia causes include parasitic infection, allergies, adrenal conditions, skin disorders, toxins, autoimmune disorders, endocrine disorders or cancer.
Eosinophilia usually refers to more than 500 eosinophils per microliter of blood, detected in a blood test.
Treatment depends on what is causing the condition. If, for example, it is caused by an allergy- avoiding what tiggers it is the easiest treatment. Parasitic infections should be treated with medications.
