Just venting I guess. I'll be 8 or 9 years self harm free this year and everytime I look at my scars, I still cant believe I let it get that bad. Everyone says I should consider getting my scars covered up with tattoos but I don't want to hide them, I feel like they are a part of me. I love my scars and I'm not ashamed of them anymore.

I agree with ya'll. I went a long time before relapsing these past few years due to a toxic relationship

The way that I see it is that your scars are progress. Like I'm glad that you haven't elapsed in 8 or 9 years and that's good. I understand that you're proud of them because you're proud of the progress and that you haven't been hurting yourself. 💕

I've got about a year and a half since i last cut and i feel the same way about my scars. I feel like i earned them and i don't want to let them go; I'm very attached to them. I had an ex call them "tiger stripes" and i really like that. I like their interesting patterns too. I've been self harming since i was 10 and cutting since i was 12 (I'm 31 now) so i know these scars aren't going anywhere. Good job on close to a decade self harm free! 🤗

@emptytank my nephew asked about mine for the first time the other day and I told him they were battle wounds from fighting a mean monster that was trying to hurt me

One million percent agree with this!!! So proud of you for not engaging in SH for that long!! So hard! It’s been 2 years with no behaviors for me but it was a long road getting there, as I’m sure you know!!! 💪🏼
