I’ve been struggling so much with my roommates and living situation in general. I had a very toxic situation that i thankfully got out of last year. My situation now is a three bed apartment that I THOUGHT would be me and two other college-aged afab people. I was extremely clear that the situation I was coming out of was awful, and that I needed clarity, communication, and respect. Then, I moved in and found out that the roommate who had been living here has a whole fiancé; a 30 year old man who has been living here since the second month I was here, and has not moved out, despite claims that he potentially would. He has not offered to pay rent or utilities, and doesn’t have a job so he’s here all the time. He’s not the most awful person, so I didn’t mind too much at first, but I have asked multiple times at this point whether he would be staying, and if so if he could help with utilities. Both times I was told that he would not be, because he pays for cleaning supplies. (I do to.) and since then, I have basically been ignored or shut down every time I try to politely ask for something I need. I have even been responded to by the fiancé, even though I texted my roommates phone. I’m moving out at the end of the month, but honestly I’ve been fuming lately and I don’t know how to hold in my frustration. I need help, and I don’t know what to do now.

Hi! I had an Incredibly similar experience and while counting down my moving days I really just. Stayed away from home as much as possible. Even if it meant just sitting in McDonald's or my car or a park or I would just face time a friend in my apartment so I was "with" people that I liked and also most people would give me the privacy to finish my conversation (not that I would ever really have it end, my record for longest facetime is 34 hours). Which sure isn't great and ideal but it was how I survived those roommates for sure
