How do I tell my Mom about my childhood sexual assault?

Maybe try writing it instead? You could write her a letter, and if you wanted to you could even sit with her while she reads it, but I find it easier to be open about tough subjects when I have a chance to write it and edit it, rather that having the anxiety of talking about it "live". That's really difficult. I never did tell my parents about my assaults because I didn't feel safe to. If you are in a place where you are safe and feel like it's the right time, I'm sending all the power, love, and healing your way. Have you spoken about this outloud before?
