I want to tell my Mom about how I was sexually assaulted as a child but I don’t know how. How do I tell her? How do I bring it up? We don’t live together most of the time so I would like to do it out of text. Whenever I want to speak about it the words get stuck in my throat.

Maybe try writing it instead? You could write her a letter, and if you wanted to you could even sit with her while she reads it, but I find it easier to be open about tough subjects when I have a chance to write it and edit it, rather that having the anxiety of talking about it "live". Hope this helps 🤍

@wanderingcreature I had never told people until a year ago. I talk about in CPT with my therapist. Other than that I tell people online. I mention briefly about suffering abuse to friends but never in detail
That's really difficult. I never did tell my parents about my assaults because I didn't feel safe to. If you are in a place where you are safe and feel like it's the right time, I'm sending all the power, love, and healing your way. Have you spoken about this outloud before?
