@dimemanda no body really wants to be put on a psych hold. Some people really freak out about Dr's and hospitals. Not all psych facilities are bad. 2/3 I've been to I liked
Why don't you want to be put on phych hold?
Ya my doctor is on maternity leave and the doctor covering for her does not care

if you've been struggling with suicidal thoughts or ideation, a psych hold may not be the worst idea. It's temporary, but so are the suicidal thoughts, and if you're in a crisis you should definitely at least talk to someone else. there's a text line, text HELP to 741-741 and you'll be matched with someone who can talk to you and tell you what steps you can take for long-term help. It's free and completely confidential, they won't tell anyone a single thing you say to them just like your therapist won't

My brother went in to a psych hold for 5150 and honestly after he came out of it, he got so much better and stable. My family didn’t want him to be in there at first, but being in there helped him a lot because they were able to help him mentally, and then they assessed him and prescribed medications afterwards. Before the psych ward, he was hearing voices, yelling at people, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, and mood swings. Now he’s so stable and thinks more rationally, and just finished his first semester in college. Please seek the help you need, your life is meaningful and worth living💗
@http.sunflower what does 5150 mean? I'm glad whatever they did work! A lot of times people go in and out of mental hospitals and they're not in there long enough to figure out what medications work or they don't tell him 100% they're different health issues and their symptoms and their family members may not be helping them out to remind them to
@Unknow my brother started off with a 5150, then the doctors/staff extended it to a 5250 which is a psychiatric hospitalization for 2 weeks. This was because he wasn’t improving. At the end of the 2 weeks he was a lot better though
@Unknow The 5150 legal code allows “a person with a mental illness to be involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization
Honey it's better to go to the er yourself and get help. You won't necessarily be put on a psych hold. Idk how your state does it but in texas it seems if you go voluntarily you're not on hold.
Have you been in the hospital before? Sometimes it's only a few days and sometimes it's longer. Does your doctor know your medicine doing something to you right now? Do you think you would seriously harm yourself and if so then please get some help 🙏 do you live by yourself?
@Unknow no I live with a roommate. My doctor is on sick leave right now and the doctor that is covering for her wants nothing to do with my meds
I definitely understand your thought. So sorry you’re struggling. Do you have a friend that has similar thoughts and won’t freak out if you talk about it? I have one friend that understands that I talk to when it’s bad. We’re both “hard wired” to think dark and it helps to not feel ashamed for thinking like that. It’s a constant struggle to try to get out of that space but we help each other out rather than bring each other down. He usually lets me get it out and then distracts me to get me out of my head or help me find solutions to what’s triggering it. One thing we say to each other is that if one of us does something to harm ourselves it gives the other permission to do the same. And that is not happening… helps put it in perspective though I may feel hopeless I am of value even if I don’t feel that for myself in the moment. You matter and your fight matters. Life is ups and downs so it won’t always be this bad.
Maybe you need to change you meds or up your dose if so
@Elle92 I am on meds did a change 5 weeks ago
