tw//eating disorder? eating issues generally . my dad literally makes me feel terrible for eating. i’m trying my best, but the second i ask to have a snack, in my home i have to ask before i eat, he gets mad and tells me that maybe if i ate more meals i wouldn’t eat as much snacks. he gets constantly angry about how i snack, and whenever i tell my family that i cannot eat anymore of my meal he gets angry. i don’t even know what to do anymore, i feel like im going back to where i was when i wasn’t eating.

Explain to him that snacking throughout the day is WAY better for you than having a few giant meals. Not even just in ed recovery, but in general. Your dad sounds like he has control issues that need to be addressed, but knowing the way dads are I'm sure he'll just pass it off as a you problem. Just make sure once you get to be an adult that you have a therapist of some kind who can help you maintain healthy eating habits, both so you don't slip into not eating and so the artificial food insecurity being created in your house doesn't lead to a binge eating disorder. Remind yourself that you don't have to live with him forever, as soon as you move out you can change your number and wash your hands of him for good

I agree with wise. I don't think snacking is an issue at all but if the foods are unhealthy it can become an issue later in life. Healthy snacking throughout the day is much better then two or three bigger meals. I would say try to be strong and talk to your mom if you think she will help. My son will snack all day but he goes after foods that are not healthy, so I try to explain that if he wants to eat that way he needs to pick out good foods to snack on when we shop.

Snacks are a part of my diet lol but eating snacks alot isn't bad! Unless it's affecting your health or your not eating real meals it's not a big problem!

@fizzylemonade having your mom in your corner in any fashion will go a long way in dealing with your dad, if only so you know you're not going crazy or doing anything wrong. my brother and I never let the other go without a witness when it came to dealing with our dad and we were definitely better off for it. there's little room for doubt when someone else is in the experience with you

Do you have a doctor or therapist who you could contact to possibly help explain that snacks are "easier" than meals. Honestly it sounds more like a power/control thing than any genuine concern for you. If you can get some secret snacks or if your in school see if you can keep some with a teacher. You'll get through this 💪.
