I think I might have an eating disorder. if I go more then 4 hours without eating something, I will get pains in my stomach and a migraine and this will not go away till I eat, and whenever I go into a store I want to get all this food and the only reason I don't is because my husband tells me no, since we don't have a lot of money. About 2 and a half years ago before I started living with my husband I would get fast food everyday before and after work. I have been eating less food and more healthy foods in the last two years because of my husband but the last few months I have been craving fast food and almost throwing a tantrum when my husband tells me no. I think I need help. I also eat a lot more then usually when I am stressed or upset.

I recommend seeing a physician, pains and migraines are not typical of the style of eating disorder you are describing

That doesn't sound like an eating disorder at all. Do some research.

Sounds like you need to leave him the fact that he's controlling what you are eating is toxic.

@HMarieezz he's not controlling, we just need to watch our money and I tend to spend A LOT on food

I’d recommend checking out the book intuitive eating. It is a great resource for developing a healthy relationship with food. It’s pretty typical to crave things you won’t let yourself have. Fast food in moderation is generally okay - making it a reward at the end of a long week of healthy eating could help motivate you to eat well while still getting what you crave. You should talk with a doctor about the pains/migraines when you don’t eat. That’s not typical and it’s not a symptom of an eating disorder.

This isn't an eating disorder, this sounds like a fast food addiction. I also have one lol. But I am diagnosed with a binge eating disorder which seems like what you think you might have, as someone with it this is not a BED. Still, a fast food addiction is also hard to deal with so I'm not down playing your struggles love, you still need some help :) also your husband shouldn't be 100% controlling what you're eating, that sounds hard to deal with as well :(

@bum he's no controlling, he's helping me watch my food intake, I actually asked him to do this

also, it's not just fast food, it's food in general, fast food being the most accessible, we are homeless at the moment and if I could be eating a home cooked steak with baked potato and some beans I'd be I heaven, but I know that I'd make enough for like 3 people and eat it all myself, my problem isn't the food I'm eating but the amount of food I eat, I've eaten like 3 full sized plates of broccoli before and was still hungry

@HavenFoxCetto craving comfort food and binge eating when you can is a reasonable response to food insecurity. It’s entirely possible your issue is mainly economic - if you had a home and access to food without worrying about money I would bet your behavior around food would be different. Do you feel anxious about not having food? If so, could that account for the symptoms you get when you don’t eat?

well my family was never poor, I just was never allowed to eat without permission and usually when I asked the answer would be no or wait till dinner, and it got to a point I almost starved myself in middle school because I never ate what I wanted, always stuff my brother liked and I didn't, and when I got a job at 16 my parents told me I wasn't allowed to eat anything in the house and that if I ate something of theirs I had to replace it, but like, if I had one egg out of a 18 pack, I'd have to replace the whole 18 pack or they said they would call the cops cause I was stealing thier food, and they have had cameras around the house since I was 14, I don't talk to any of my family, I only talk to my husband, per my choice, I don't want friends, and my husband actually encourages me to get some but doesn't push me to do so, I just don't want anyone thinking he is my problem, cause he's not he helps me through this.

@HavenFoxCetto food insecurity includes not being allowed to eat. The way your parents handled food is honestly abominable and it’s no wonder you’re struggling with food. “Intuitive eating” would definitely be a good read for you! It has companion workbooks, too. Do you cook food yourself?
