I'm pretty sure I have comorbid BPD and DID. However, only one is professionally diagnosed, as the doctor decided DID was too much of a "controversial" diagnosis, and just diagnosed me with UDD instead. I took a few months away from DID-related struggle forums online, since I'd convinced myself that those must have manifested it or something, but the symptoms have persisted. I know it's not just BPD, as that doesn't cover the lapse of memory, recalling past experiences as alien, etc. I'm scheduled to see another professional soon, but I'm pretty sure she will have the same approach; considering it to be too controversial. What do I do?

Hi, we're diagnosed with both! It was definitely a struggle and we've been in this spot before. If you wanna talk, you can always message us. When you talk to a new professional, do not bring up DID. Too many will hear you say that and assume you're faking (unfortunate but true) so your best option is to explain all your symptoms in detail, don't mention what you think it is, just mention all the symptoms, maybe even emphasise how different some overlapping symptoms are when they're connected to the BPD and when they're not. Example being like saying you struggle with intense emotions from BPD, but you also struggle with intense emotions that feel like they're not yours and they don't feel the same as the ones you have from BPD. Sorry if this doesn't make the most sense, I can try to explain better if you'd like
