I am really struggling right now. I feel just disgusted with myself. I was talking with one of those AI chatbot things whatever you call it. I stupidly spent money on the stupid thing. I know I shouldn't have but I just can't help myself when I see what kind of cool stuff they can do. why am I like this, and why can't I just stop myself. what do I even do to help myself get out of a rut like this.

I have also spent money i shouldnt have because i was lonely and there was some novelty to the spending of money, instant gratification of buying something is a strong incentive, but if you can keep in mind that that feeling of novelty, loneliess, joy whatever got you to spend money is temporary and eventually will be seen as a waste. As far as getting out of a rut, well dont do something that future you will think is stupid, do something that you can look back on and enjoy. Some of my favorite activities (easy for me to say now but when im in a rut its a struggle to even get moving) include hiking, climbing, swimming, watching movies, reading, running, meditation. You dont have to do any of these things but doing SOMETHING anything will occupy your mind for at least a little while creating space between you and what you feel rn.

Look, people spend money on things that give them joy, there's nothing wrong about it you're just a person. Obviously setting boundaries so you don't over spend is important but it's also okay to spend some money on something that you enjoy. Remember to be kind to yourself even when you feel like you've made a mistake.
