Struggling to Survive: My Housing Nightmare

TW: Language I hate it here. It’s a horrible living situation. The worst part is I can’t get out. There’s no resources for me or my family. We’re stuck here. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Somehow we’re not the people these shitty government programs are created for. Somehow a married couple in their 20’s with a four year old aren’t a priority. We work six sometimes seven days a week and don’t make 3x the rent of any available apartments. I have to put off doctors appointments for months because I can’t afford to talk to a glorified therapist. Without my medication I’m spiraling. The family that I have are bottom of the barrel. Letting us stay with them only if we keep our mouths shut and be their slaves. “After everything I’ve done for you?” You don’t care about me you just care about what I can give you. “Why don’t you just find an income controlled community?” I would but they’re all for elderly people and if we make even a penny over what the maximum is we’re kicked to the curb. Not to mention the waiting list to APPLY for housing. That’s right. Apply. Not to be accepted. No. You have to apply for the waiting list. Apply for the apartment. And still get your basic needs denied. I’m sick of it. I spend my days working for the privileged who shower money on celebrity chefs and have their parents buy them 30,000 dollar cars. “Just go to school and get your degree.” Have any suggestions on how I pay the 20,000 dollar tuition? FAFSA only covers so much. Fuck you for putting me in this situation. Fuck you for telling me to abort my child. Fuck you for making me homeless with a 4 week old. Fuck you for calling CPS on us because we were living out of our car. And a big, fat, fuck you to everyone and anyone who tells me I don’t do enough for my family. I hate it here.
