Struggling to Make Friends in My Area

How do I become friends with people in my area? I can make friends with people online but not in person. I just can’t find out where people in my age range are. (I’m 20.) and I go to this video game place and there’s either people too young, or just a little bit too old. Whenever I find people my age they’re with other people and I can’t like, join their group. I’ve tried joining a group of people before but I got nothing out of it. Do I just need to keep trying or let them come to me? I’m feeling like giving up tbh. Like I’ll never find friends in my area and online friends aren’t good enough. I just wish I could have people to go out with on the weekends so I could have fun with them. I feel lost and like I can’t do this. Like I’m the problem with this whole situation.
