TW: mentions of abuse, manipulation, trauma, bullying, and gaslighting. So, I have trauma from an ex partner and best friend. It has been causing me a lot of stress and anxiety lately. I decided to look into the criteria for PTSD recently and am a bit stuck. I definitely meet all of the criteria except the type of trauma that caused it. I wasn’t in danger of actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence. It was bullying, emotional abuse, and gaslighting. I was very dependent on her and it was almost impossible to cut her out of my life. We were both kids when this happened and neither of us were the best to each other. But, what she did to me and how she made up things and told everyone she knew left me very scarred. It was and still is very debilitating. She has been able to move past it almost completely and is fine now. I haven’t. From what it seems like, I think what I’m experiencing is closest to Complex-PTSD, but that isn’t a diagnosis in the US. Everything I can find on C-PTSD says that even though I can’t be diagnosed with it, it would make me qualify for a PTSD diagnosis. I don’t know what to do or think since there doesn’t seem to be a diagnosis that would fit me.

C-PTSD will still be considered in therapy though that exact diagnosis may not be used it will just fall under PTSD. The difference being "complex". It is still trauma that caused the disorder, it just wasn't ONE instance of trauma, it happened over a period of time with multiple events. Mine was childhood trauma being raised by an alcoholic and it spanned until I was an adult. Later on it was relationship trauma with verbal, physical, and emotional abuse by a significant other. Followed by straight trauma from a relationship with an individual with an addiction and dealing with his lifestyle and ultimately his death. Don't let a diagnosis tell you that you have struggled, you know what you've been through and with the right provider they will get you the help you need and will find the appropriate diagnosis to put down.

Just some info, my therapist told me that next year, C-PTSD will be added to the book. Here's hoping🤞 I do believe that you could currently qualify for PTSD with the right psychiatrist. I know someone who had a nightmare disorder as a child and was diagnosed with PTSD from that. I am sorry that this trauma happened to you.

It's definitely PTSD I'm a Marine. But almost all of my PTSD came from relainonships. I went through very close to the same thing u did. Several times. You believe in a person, some people. Or a belief. Wen your r radeled wen your PERSEPION of reality is shattered. Then u try to fiber it out so it don't happen again. But that's not what u should do. U need to move forward for yourself. Make Responsible take on more through yourself. In to work or your dreams. But most importantly. Be the gate keeper of your own minde and don't let the negativey in u must stay positive or bizzy and stop them thought wen ever they arise
