Hi I wanted to put my story out here to see if anyone had similar issues or advice. 8 months ago I was given the anti nausea med Reglan (Metoclopramide) via IV. I immediately had a severe dystonic reaction including full body tremors, eyes rolling back, lost bladder and bowel control, organs shut down, hallucinations, in and out of consciousness. The following week my legs didn’t work at all. I luckily was able to walk again but still 8 months later I have tremors and can’t stand long enough to shower or walk. And that’s not the worst of it! After having diarrhea in the hospital bed, I had black loose stools for weeks which then led to daily dry heaving, vomiting, diarrhea and blood in stools which sent me back to hospital, and at least 5 GI doctors tons of tests and found nothing. Currently I still suffer from malabsorption, bloating, severe abdominal pain, gas/acid reflux, diarrhea and nausea and vomiting. Unfortunately that’s not the worst of it. I immediately developed panic disorder, agoraphobia/monophobia, dpdr, depression and severe anxiety. I still am unable to leave my house without fainting and losing bowel and bladder control plus panic attacks. Here is my full list of symptoms: (some constant, some on and off) Akathisia, dystonia, DPDR, agoraphobia/monophobia, panic, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, short term memory loss, legs don’t work, whole body feels like cement, restlessness, chest pain, dizziness, chills, fainting, frequent yawning, stomach pain, diarrhea, dry heaving, nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, muscle aches, fatigue, hot red burning skin, numbness in limbs, severe vertigo, headache, recurring eye infections/partial blindness I’ve seen many doctors mostly virtual but also in person and have done so many tests. The only diagnoses I got were akathisia, dystonia, drug induced parkinsonism and functional neurological disorder. Most doctors do agree that I had some sort of brain/nervous system injury and/or damage from the medication. I am also in a Reglan support group with many others with similar issues as mine.

The individual experienced a severe dystonic reaction to the anti-nausea medication Reglan (Metoclopramide), which was administered via IV. This reaction included full body tremors, loss of bladder and bowel control, hallucinations, and temporary paralysis of the legs. In the months following this event, they have continued to experience physical symptoms such as tremors, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, as well as psychological symptoms including panic disorder, agoraphobia, depression, and severe anxiety. They have been diagnosed with akathisia, dystonia, drug-induced parkinsonism, and functional neurological disorder, and most doctors agree that they suffered some form of brain or nervous system injury from the medication.
