I got a migraine cocktail in the ER a few days ago, consisting of compazine, toradol, benadryl, and saline. Less than a minute after getting them injected into my IV the room started to spin and I felt trapped in my skin. I started to panic and felt just waves of anxiety, adrenaline, and just an uncomfortable physical sensation. I felt like I needed to rip out my IV and run out of the hospital. I felt like I was going to die! And to top it all off, my nurse left me alone during all of this and I was sitting in a dark room freaking out by myself. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I let my primary know?

Yes!!!! Word for word this happened to me with reglan. I didn’t know what was wrong htt it felt like I needed to rip the IV out and just kept saying “something is wrong!!! I need help!!!” I read that some medications act as a dopamine blocker if injected too quickly and causes that reaction. It’s terrible and doctors are aware but don’t bother to warn you, I always tell them no reglan and if you’re putting medication in my IV. DO IT SLOWLY. I’m so sorry this happened to you

@agirlcandream24 Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone here. She mentioned that she wanted to inject it slowly or else 'it could have some weird side effects' but she didn't go into detail. I will definitely be letting them know the next time I go in. It was genuinely so terrible and freaky; I'm lucky the benadryl knocked me out so I didn't have to sit in torment the ENTIRE time lol
