Sensory Overload: Why Am I Suddenly So Sensitive?

My sensory sensitivity for some reason has sky rocketed within the last six or so months. I cannot even handle people talking to me sometimes anymore without lashing out at them. I have a pair of birds that are not even that noisy as far as birds go, but they are killing me. I hate them now, even though I used to enjoy their company. I hate them and I want them gone, and it makes me feel like a horrible pet owner. They’re just being birds. It gets so bad I have crying fits, and I fantasize about setting them free outside just to make the noise stop (I’d never do it, and my family members wouldn’t let me). I just want to stay in my room with all the lights off and earplugs in all day and night. I don’t remember this being such a problem before a couple years ago. What might have caused this sudden burst of intense sensory issues? I am being screened for adhd and bipolar in a couple weeks by the way.
