I have a pretty intense scalp picking issue that’s gone on for several years. (With all my mental health diagnoses, it’s not shocking) There are always open sores present—it’s harder to do when I have artificial nails, but I just end up keeping at it longer. 😒 but what really bothers me is that I don’t feel the picking is “complete” until I eat it. I’ll even do it in public—I’ll just look around before I eat it. How much of your disorders involve eating something from your body? I know it’s hard to talk about

I'm in a Facebook group for dermatillomania and it's way more common than I would have thought for people to eat the scabs. You aren't alone!

I also get my nails done to make it harder for myself to pick at my skin but I’ve gotten desperate and used tools and I also eat my skin I completely relate. It makes me feel so ashamed and I like I can’t stop 😭
Idk but I’d look into helping prevent psoriasis if you keep getting sores on your scalp. That’s what I deal with. I’m not sure if you deal with the same but sounds similar and Tsal is a good shampoo to help treat buildup and flakes. Maybe if you help prevent the buildup and flakes and sores you won’t pick as much. Just an idea
