Is it possible to reduce (or better yet, eliminate) nightmares/dreams of reliving your trauma? Has anyone had success with any specific medications or techniques? I've seen psychologists, counsellors, trauma therapists, somatic therapists, etc but none have ever adequately addressed my nightmares. My sleep is so disturbed in every sense of the word and it affects my partner too. Every time I have these nightmares it follows me throughout the day and I just can't escape it.

Cbt therapy helps if you put the work in but it will always be with you just manageable. There is a medication. Minipin is the brand name.....it makes you not dream, or not remember. It has saved me from night terrors.

@YoLandiPandi PS yes prazosin is minipin. It works.
I've been on Buspar for a couple months now (have severe PTSD) & it has helped me get through the night. It hasn't completely eliminated the night terrors & flashbacks, but it has reduced their intensity & frequency. I highly suggest trying a group therapy program that might help you through it. Good luck & I'm always available to talk
@Penguinmama awesome advice thank you so much. I'm also open to chatting if you ever feel like you need to reach out š

Some people have found success in reducing nightmares associated with PTSD through medication, such as prasozin or Saphris. Others have mentioned that EMDR therapy has been helpful. Grounding techniques and creating a calming bedtime routine can also be beneficial. Some individuals have also found relief through ASMR, specifically maternal-themed ones like 'mom tucks you in'. Exercise during the day to tire oneself out and reading before bed to distract the mind have also been suggested. However, it's important to note that what works can vary from person to person.
