Need help with PTSD nightmares and sleep

I’ve always had trouble sleeping because of the ptsd nightmares. Last year, I started Minipress and it has been an absolute miracle. The only problem is I’m still not sleeping through the night. Any suggestions?

I’ve been on a few sleep meds but none of them worked more than a month or so. I take Benadryl right now but that’s not helping. I might just talk to my primary care and see what she thinks. Minipress was such a game changer for me though. My first time waking up without nightmares was really emotional. I wish I had known about it sooner

I’m on minipress too. It took away the nightmares but didn’t help the sleep. I take ambien for sleep

I’m on minipress now too for ptsd I’m not sure I had as much improvement but I am scared to change my meds as I have a really hard time adjusting - I don’t remember my dreams really but I wake up with pounding heart and anxiety and shaking - I take in when I wake up as well to help with the physical effects which I was put on during a recent hospitalization.. the medication dr I am seeing said she hasn’t heard of that but she seems to agree with my current regime - I think I need to do some more research 🧐

I have the same problem. Ptsd and nightmares then started minipress and that got rid of the nightmares but terrible sleep still. Then I started trazodone and got a little bit more deep sleep but am having REALLY weird nightmaredreams. They are not scary or trauma related but they are really weird, like they make me feel really uncomfortable/freaked out and anxious for hours after I wake up. So not sure which I’d rather…
