I’ve been masking for so long (decades) that I literally have no idea who I am without the mask anymore. I’m kind of interested in trying to rediscover my true self but I don’t even know where to begin. Anyone feel the same?

Me. I'm kinda scared too. I know who I am with all my tools. I'm happy to have my tools. I don't consider them masks. I know what I like and what I don't. I know my values and morals and have decided them myself. If I disregard the tools I've created to help me live, survive, in public who's that gonna hurt? Probably everyone. Why regress? Yes I cover up how I would have naturally behaved but that's been a benefit of fitting into their world. They're not invited to for into mine. I like mine all to myself.

@GracefulKim *they're not invited into my world
@GracefulKim NOT that I'm violent in any way.
Yes! I was the same way. I started with figuring out "things I like". What activities, movies, tv, animals , colors ect, do you like even when you're not masking? Your special interests that don't go away. I like figure skating so I used that as a starting point of consistency. No matter what mask I wore, I loved figure skating and dogs lmao. Then I could carry that with me all the time and it made me feel like I at least had a piece of certainty about myself.
YES I FEEL THIS WAY
