What can I do to help myself recover after an extremely debilitating time of masking, having to try to painfully endure sensory issues, and masking so so much to try an socialize and act like others.

I personally stim and use self care like a bath with bubble bar in it or watching a TV show with my favorite lotion on.

Take time out of your schedule to be you and stim and do what makes you happy either alone or with someone you trust

Dont know if this could help since its specific to me but when I do reach my limit in those circumstances and really need to reorder my senses I take a shower. Usually i sit down with the light off or a candle then switch from really hot water to cold water very slowly while focusing on my breathing. Forces your body to ride the wave slowly along with stimulation. It also secures I am alone and have time to gather myself. In burnout this happens frequently as I am still just now unmasking and its hard to get in the groove of my typical stimming when scared. Also, learn when you really do reach your limit like REALLY because your limit needs to be before meltdown or depression territory. Still learning that too.

Stimming, self care, for me doing special interests can help me regulate myself again. Rest. Give yourself permission to be you in the fullest capacity and listen to that ❤️
