Idk is this will resonate with you but just remember that a therapist/psychiatrist is there to perform a service for you. Not the other way around. You 100% deserve to have autonomy in your medication choices and are 100% valid in asking questions, taking your time to respond, doing your own research, and getting a second opinion.

yes, absolutely. i have so much trouble being honest with my doctors, i tend to say everythings ok and i'm down to try anything when in reality i'm quite miserable. there's some good advice for us in this thread ❤️

I am usually very open and honest with my doctor and if they make a suggestion on medication I asked him if they can give me some time to think it over and then do what's best for me

I feel like I have to do what they suggest. But sometimes I say no. Especially the higher doses of antipsychotics. I don't want to be a zombie and gain a ton of weight.

I get anxiety with what they prescribe because of my other meds

If I'm not comfortable, I point blank tell them I won't be trying the med. We then talk and find out what med I would be interested in trying. It helps me to do that.

Always thoroughly ask questions about your medication. If you’re uncomfortable with your psychiatrist, try talking to your pharmacist instead.
