Coping with Mental Illness and Treatment Frustration

anyone have any advice for coping with being mentally ill or how to motivate yourself when you’re tired of worrying about treatment? I’m just starting my journey with psychiatry and feeling very frustrated with my brain and how much help I need.

I fought off therapy for many years because I didn't want some stranger yelling me that there was something "wrong" with me. The fact that you are attempting to get help is the best first step. I struggled with medication when I was first diagnosed. I was inconsistent and eventually took myself off all together because I truly felt like they didn't work. When I went back to my psychiatrist with my tail between my legs. We reevaluated and ended up changing my medications. Since then, I've gotten myself into a routine and remained consistent. I have learned that being transparent is the best way to get a solution. My psychiatrist doesn't have my brain and doesn't know my thoughts. The best advice I can give you, is to trust the process. Tell the absolute whole truth even if it's hard. If you take medications, take them consistently. Going to therapy is not a punishment and you deserve to understand how you feel.
