does anyone else feel like DID either gets painted like demon possession in films and then gets over romanticized on places like TikTok? I feel like I've seen a huge influx of kids saying they have DID lately because not many people talk about the negatives of DID and how jarring it can be. It especially frustrates me to see this new wave of "DID without trauma" and those who lead others astray into thinking it's all sunshine and rainbows and partying with all your favourite anime characters in your head. Not to say that it can't also be those things, but to get to a healthy state of mind it took our system quite a while to accept we had it and then go through the process of what to do after the fact, and that process was far from pleasant. for me personally I feel like I'm alone in struggling with this disorder when so many others seem to think DID is the best thing to ever happen to them. what are your opinions? is DID getting over romanticized in the media? is it accurately portrayed on TikTok? let me know your thoughts

I personally think it's a hell hole and is the main cause of most of my fights with my wife. It is a nightmare. I was first diagnosed back when I was barely even considered a teenager, struggled with it for a few years, and then poof it like it disappeared. I was happy to have it gone from my life, but as of about a year ago, it has started showing its ugly head again. I don't watch media much so idk how it's portrayed but I know it is one of the worst issues I have to deal with, I'm just thankful it doesn't bother me much, it's like I go through an episode or two a week and that's about it but when it happens it's bad, most of the time I remember what happened but occasionally i have to be told what transpired because I was completely oblivious.
