Depression

Im not sure if its my depression ir not. But showers are getting to be troublesome for me. It causes one symptom of my autoimmune issues to flare up (no known cause. Nothing has changed with anything i use so its not an allergic reaction to soap or anything) i wind up becoming uncomfortable for a few hours after my shower.

I have gender dysphoria and when I’m REALLY struggling I sometimes take what I call a “French whores bath” where I wash myself off with soap and a wet washcloth and wash my hair over the sink. It’s a much more low-effort cleaning regiment and helps me get more motivated to actually shower.
Also, if it's a noise thing, I use water proof headphones or ear plugs.. showers don't need to be long and don't need to be super often because natural oils will be ok for your body and hair (brush hair to move oils around if they stick at the top of your scalp). You can do this and I am so happy you asked for motivation! I am a proud anonymous friend who supports you 😊
If it's a motivation to shower: do something you ARE motivated to do...while in the shower or right after (for me I prep my art stuff and the perfect comfy clothes) If it is more like you aren't motivated because showering isn't something you like to do or gives you anxiety: I have a XXL size towel that I use a lot to help me get mentally prepped and used to the idea, also I only shower once a week... depending on daily activities wash clothes with water at your desired temp is good and if you have the ability to even just spend time in/around the shower for other activities without water or anything, you may mentally re-wire and adjust to less anxiety
Loud music and sing all troubles out!
Loud music. Start dancing.
I motivate sometimes by putting a documentary on my phone to listen to while I shower. Sometimes it is music. But maybe there is something you enjoy that could be added to the shower routine to make you look forward a little more to it?
I hate the shower! So loud! I set a timer and pre plan my routine. Shampoo, rinse, condition, face, body, rinse, and done. I also got a cleaning brush and shower spray to make it easier to keep it clean and inviting. I still only do it 2-3 times a week. As an alternative, baby wipes are GREAT! Find some unscented or a smell you like. Just make sure you get in all the crevices where bacteria could grow and the belly button. I got some Lume Deodorant paste, not sure if it’s worth the money but I put that on my feet and stinky areas right after a shower in hope it keeps me fresh longer. I also use regular antiperspirant too. I also use dry shampoo spray on days that I don’t shower so my hair doesn’t look gross. Daily showers don’t happen everywhere in the world and are a fairly recent thing in human history. Just be kind to those around you and try not to stink, and do your best to keep yourself clean for health reasons and you will be fine!
Love my walk-in tub. So relaxing.
You got this! Just take it one thing at a time!
Good morning ,Easier said then done but maybe a bubble bath 🛀 ?would be better for you right now it’s warm and relaxing maybe put some relaxing music on just a thought.Hope you have a good day
