I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with NAFLD, and more recently possible Gastritis. I see a GI Doc May 25th and I have changed my diet dramatically, but I also have no appetite which could be from the anxiety and depression. I am still having discomfort in the area off and on, last night and today I have been so uncomfortable and just want to lay around all day. Is this normal? I know most people do not have symptoms when they have this but it is really affecting me especially mentally. I am debating going back to the ER.

@bubblebea If the pain becomes unbearable, please go to the ER. Ask for an abdominal ultrasound, bloodwork, Lexapro, and Sucralfate. Please keep me posted. I will pray.

Thank you so much🥺💕 I ended up using the online DR service through my insurance last night because the discomfort was really starting to make me worry. I felt like the pain was cause by my liver being enlarged and the FLD, but when I told her that she said the FLD wouldn't cause pain like this. Then I realized I had forgotten to tell even the ER doctor about some of my symptoms. I've been having diarrhea off and on for the last two weeks, stomach and abdominal cramps, some nausea and no appetite. I chalked it up to me changing my diet, stress, and anxiety. When I told her this she immediately says that it sounds like I have a bacterial infection and prescribed two antibiotics. She said the good bacteria in my gut was depleted and that the bad bacteria was taking over and that the pain was from the gastritis putting pressure on my organs. I immediately felt better like a weight being lifted, it was the best I have felt in a while. I was also looking at my labs from that visit and when they preformed the ultrasound they couldn't see my pancreas too well because of gas obstruction. I also spoke to a therapist today which also helped, I feel less anxious right now, but I am feeling extremely disconnected from myself and numb.😥
Especially because of the discomfort. I just want to go back to my normal.😞
Yes I have all of those and will definitely try to eat something. I am just really scared.😥
I am also suffering with some very intense panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts and have not been myself since I was diagnosed.
@bubblebea Lexapro really helped me with that.
@bubblebea I am so very sorry 🙏
The light headed can be from low blood sugar or low blood pressure. Please drink plenty of water and try to eat crackers if you can. A banana, peanut butter and crackers, or just crackers. Gatorade or water so you don’t get dehydrated.
I have been a little but I barely ate yesterday and today. I was feeling really light headed and weak just now so I am forcing myself to eat something. I can feel my stomach growl but I am so scared to eat anything really. I wish I could get in sooner to the GI doc, will they be able to refer me? Last night I called because of the discomfort, they gave me scripts for Omeprazole and Dicyclomine.
@bubblebea can you eat some ritz crackers or buttered toast?
We struggle with the same stuff. Anxiety and depression too. I’m so sorry. No caffeine or naproxen with gastritis. Get that Carafate prescription, it works completely.
Also, zero alcohol, smoking, drugs, salt, fried foods, white bread, pasta, white rice, and drastically lower sugar intake with NAFLD. Ask to see a nutritionist. That helped me tremendously. Get your cholesterol, triglycerides, and A1C checked as those drastically effect the liver.
I have both of these too. Please get a prescription for Carafate (Sucralfate is generic) and works just as good. Coats the stomach during gastritis flare ups and takes pain away. No caffeine at all, spicy foods, ibuprofen (advil, Motrin), or Aleve (naproxen sodium). Those all irritate stomach. I also take pantoprazole (protonix) daily to minimize acid in my stomach. It’s by prescription too. Drink lots of water to flush acid out of stomach. If you have NAFLD, please get a referral to a Hepatologist (liver specialist). You need further imaging on your liver to keep an eye on it every 6 months. Ursodiol can help you with your liver. It’s by prescription and was given to me by my liver specialist. It has lowered my liver enzymes. Having no appetite is concerning. Are you nauseated?
