How do yall go about making friends with the same or similar disorders? As much as I love my friends, a lot of the time I wish I had at least a few friends going through what I am so I KNOW they definitely understand

i really only have one or two friends that have similar issues to me but that wasn’t w really a factor in becoming friends, just coincidence. But my closet friend doesn’t suffer from any mental illnesses and they make me feel more understood and supported than anyone else I know, so the value is more from building friendships with good people

the internet really helps more than hurts me when it comes to this actually! i follow many people with ocd diagnosed and/or therapists on instagram that post helpful content. it makes me feel way less alone. examples are ocdexcellence and theobsessivemind

I’m feeling the same way as you are right now, one thing that I use for community and to feel less alone is the ocd subreddit, I don’t go on it all the time since it can trigger me but the subreddit existing on its own just reminds me that there’s a huge community of us and that I’m not alone or “crazy” for experiencing what I go through.

Hey! I think you are in the best place for it! Here you can talk to people with the same disorders you have. I know it's not like meeting a friend and talking to him, but it's also a good place to share and feel that other people understand you :)
