Is there a way to make sleeping easier without having my mind go into a bad state?

Melatonin

Honestly, I pop a melatonin before bed so that my mind doesn’t even have the energy to get into a bad state before I forget and pass out.

setting definitely helps. I usually set up the TV with something lighthearted (my BF and I watch victorious or icarly lol), about 30 minutes before bedtime in that room. I keep it at a low volume and have the lamp (on the dimmest setting for me but not all lamps have different settings) on my nightstand on until I get comfortable and sometimes even sleepy.
Well, what I try to do (and this takes a lot of practice) is focus on my breathing and my breathing only. Before bed, I suggest giving yourself an hour without your phone and doing something like reading, writing, or drawing, since it's a fine motor skill that when you concentrate on it, you begin to feel sleepy. Not only that, but perhaps reading will fill your mind with other things, such as the story, so you have something else to focus on before you fall asleep. Hope this helps!
I'm still struggling with this question, myself. Wishing you (us) luck.
