So I’m a college student and I want to get a job, but all the jobs are things like retail where you have to be on your feet and carrying things. But I walk with platform crutches, can’t be standing for long, and can’t carry things when I walk. I also am frustrated with things like museums and other walking events because I can never do the whole thing. So I’ve been thinking about a wheelchair. But I’m not sure how to bring that up with my doctor. Any ideas?

i’m at this point too. especially with going to classes. i was in a wheelchair for a month after a horrible car wreck and it was so nice to get around. be firm with your doctor. i wasnt and he acted disappointed that i even brought the idea up :/ if they say no to wheelchair and/or you can’t afford maybe look into a rollator!

Remote work or things like office jobs or receptionists or any jobs that don't require much physical work would be a good idea to look into!!

Why don't you just tell your doctor what you just posted here? Tell them with your platform crutches it's hard for you to get a job and a wheelchair might be beneficial. Worst thing they could say is no, right? Also have you tried looking for remote work? Might be easier on you!
