Talking to a stranger about your thoughts and issues can be very intimidating. They are professionals who are not there to judge you but to help you. To be honest, I LOVE seeing a therapist because I don't want to bother my friends about my relationship and work problems. Keep in mind that there are thousands of therapists and some might not be compatible with your needs and personality. It took me a while to find a good therapist because I didn't realize I needed to see one who taught DBT therapy. Find a therapist that specializes in your conditions and hopefully are in the same demographic. An older Caucasian male wouldn't be able to relate to me. My best therapists were young Asian American women, like me.
