Has anyone developed insomnia when they got older after leaving a dysfunctional , emotionally mentally physically abusive relationship from their narcissists parents ? I saw online adults who were abused as a child developed insomnia from the mental health problems from the abuse and trauma ?

I know this is super old but I have the same thing. I take melatonin to sleep, and try to put on something soothing (clothes, and music usually)

Nlt sure if you're still struggling, but I have struggled with some sleep issues since leaving my family. The worst of it was the two years following my independence. I would have nightmares and panic which would make me not want to sleep. Nowadays it's much easier, but I still struggle sometimes. I use Yoga Nidra to fall asleep if the thoughts are racing. (Ally Boothroyd has a great YouTube channel)
