my therapist told me to start exploring my inner child, and provided some questions for me to work on in my own time to get me started. ever since starting the questions, ive realized i cant recall nearly as much as i thought i'd be able to. any advice on 1) coping with this realization, 2) starting to uncover memories, or 3) healing my inner child in general?

Little things can trigger memories, if there's things from your environment you can remember, getting those things now might help you remember other events. I suggest you proceed with caution though and have a safe space near incase you remember something traumatic or of the likes of that. I know that for healing your inner child, if there things you can remember wanting to do, even just silly things like rock hunting or playing a claw machine at a store- things that might be been held from you as a child, can help. Another option is age regressing, but I think more goes into that & it's something you really have to look into before you attempt imo.

I wouldn't try and force it too much. I dont think you can push your brain to uncover shit its not ready to. As far as healing your inner child.....its such a nebulous idea. One I've really struggled with. In some ways I feel like I need external help to get me thru that. Like a friend holding me like I needed to be held when I was a kid but wasn't.
