How do you get help with intrusive thoughts other than CBT?

ok this is kinda stupid but it helps me. i read this post once about pretending intrusive thoughts are like a backseat driver. you give it a name (mine is joe) and whenever you get intrusive thoughts yell 'shut up joe' or 'joe who said you could speak.' i know it's probably not that helpful and it makes me feel kind of stupid but it always makes me laugh and gets me in a better mood. idk i find it hard to take joe seriously anymore.

Meditation helped me- yes it’s very hard at first it took me weeks to get there.

@styx I don't think that's stupid at all, that sounds freaking great. I basically do that minus the personification (basically it's "shut up, societal norms pushed upon me, causing me to stray into this line of thinking," rather than "shut up, joe")
