Heyy, I can’t say for sure for everyone but for me it’s gotten worse. I was first diagnosed in 2016 but I had been experiencing it for a year before my diagnosis.. and now it’s more.. I have more symptoms than I had initially.. and the symptoms I had when it first started have gotten worse.. and I now have anxiety & depression because of it.. oh and I also developed Raynuads Syndrome as well.

It has gotten worse for me over the years, but I was hoping it would level out at some point. I already can't work fulltime and have to wear arthritis gloves very often.

For me it has gotten worse. Started getting symptoms at 15, now 18.

I've had ups and downs. Some months/years are better or worse than others. I know several people who have significantly improved over the years through different lifestyle changes and medical interventions and some that despite doing everything they can never see improvement. It varies by person. However I will say that for me, my mentality and outlook very much influence where I am on the chronic illness rollercoaster and I mean that in a not toxic positivity way.

While Fibromyalgia is not necessarily degenerative, statistically about 50% get worse over time, 25% stay the same, and 25% improve. I'd say it can really go through worse periods and better periods. With aging can come factors that make Fibromyalgia worse like joint pain, degeneration, or arthritis. You also tend to sleep worse and have less energy as you age.

I was diagnosed in 2011 at age 21 so I've had periods where it's been worse and periods when it has been better. I'd say right now with all my treatments I am fairly stable. It is still a big part of my life but I've learned to function with it and know my limitations.
