Does anyone else feel like there psychiatrist doesn't listen to them? Because when I talk to mine I feel like he doesn't care about my progress, or lack there of.

Some psychiatrists really don't. Either that or they just don't get it. It's a job and maybe they thought it was interesting but then it became just a job they know how to do. My therapist I saw certainly wasn't helpful. I brought up my parents to talk about my struggles and her response was basically to shut me down and say that they love me. Which after self discovery I don't think my mom is capable of truly loving anyone the same way normal people love each other. And I might not like my dad too much but he certainly loves me. But I still have issues with him that she shouldn't have shut down. Generally my experience is that they will never care as much as you do but if you search hard enough you might find one who's willing to actually help you rather than see you as a paycheck.

I honestly think that no psychiatrist cares really. I think they act like they care because that is what they are paid to do. Take away their paycheck then see how many of them are still there for you.
@Kimmiepooh I'm fully convinced my psychiatrist cares for me. He gets paid flat rate no matter how many times we meet a month and sometimes he meets me multiple times a week when there's emergency. But I know most psychiatrist suck, it took me years to find this one.
@blueflovver if you have one that honestly cares that much then you have achieved something special. It's awesome.
I feel like that too sometimes. It’s difficult to find the “right fit”… you may need to try someone else if it doesn’t improve. It’s always important to have the right support.
@maggiemae its just really hard with the insurance I have. Like it took me nearly a year to find the one I have now.
@UmaLuna I totally understand that! Have you thought about maybe just being upfront with him about how you’re feeling? It might really help him to understand how you’re feeling and perceiving his actions.
